Our Global City, Our Home is this year Singapore 41st Birthday theme.
As a Singaporean, nation birthday meant. Because it is the day we became older and we will be moving on further. To me if i could, i would like to celebrate my birthday with a lot of people because i enjoy the feeling of everyone celebrating for me.
Therefore, i think Singapore would also like everyone to celebrate her birthday for her. As Singaporean celebrating together at the stadium or else where as a family, we are sharing our memories together and watching her become stonger. And i am sure that Singapore will be happy if lots of people celebrate and wish her well.
To me i am proud to be a Singaporean even though there were still people who do not know Singapore and i myself was not too familiar with Singapore too.
And in Singapore, we had our own and unique places which people could not find them in other foriegn countries. Examples are Little Indian, Chinatown and Kampung Glam which were the place where all different races traditionally cultures of india, chinese and malay were all concentrated respectively there. Furthermore, this place are not only visited by thier own races, there were people from other races went there to buy stuff too. Moreover, we Singaporean regarless of races, language or religion, we will supoort each other and live in harmony. And this is what some other countries could not do, as there are news or articles on countries having war over races and religion problems. See, this is what Singapore provide us with. A home which is full of of warmth, safe and stable to live in. One more evidence to it will be there is no war in Singapore, everyone respect each others and when there are troubles such as the Sars, we will overcome it together in no time.
However it hurts when i got to know that Singapore were the last few out of hundreds of countries which is courteous. What a miserable results. People praised Singapore as a clean city with advance technology, but they jeered when it comes to our courteousy. Who will not feel bad? I feel bad. Beaucaus i do not like people to jeer at me. I want them to respect me in ways that they respect our clean and technology. But if we are not going to change the fact that we are not courteous enough, we will forever be jeer by them. Because of the theme, we should give our best if we really want this home to move on foreve and ever.
